You can eat at Orlando airport without a boarding pass in its public areas. Start with the central A/B food court, the Hyatt Regency restaurants inside A/B, or the public coffee counters on Terminal C’s arrivals level. These suit a meal with someone who is not taking a flight.
The important distinction is public access, not whether the restaurant is physically “inside the airport.” Gate-side restaurants require appropriate security access even when they are only a short distance from public spaces.
Choose a public meeting area
| Your group | Useful starting point | Detail to include in the meeting message |
|---|---|---|
| A/B passenger and a local friend | Central A/B food court | Business or landmark on Level 3, before security |
| Group wanting a seated meal in A/B | McCoy’s or Hemisphere at the Hyatt | Exact restaurant and confirmed service time |
| Person collecting a Terminal C arrival | Level 6 public arrivals area | Coffee counter or meet-and-greet landmark |
| Travelers in different terminal buildings | Agree on one public building first | Transfer route, baggage status and when everyone can arrive |
Do not book the meal around the aircraft’s touchdown time. The passenger still has to reach the terminal and may have baggage or arrival procedures to complete. A message sent after they are ready to meet gives a more reliable start time.
The A/B food court
MCO’s February 2026 A/B guide shows the central food court on Level 3, between the two sides of the main building and outside the marked checkpoints. Its map provides useful landmarks for a meeting.
A food court can work well when people want different meals or will arrive at different times. Choose one meeting point first, then let each person order after finding the group. That avoids splitting up immediately to search for food with luggage in tow.
Confirm the current concessions rather than building the plan around a dated restaurant list. Airport redevelopment can change which counters operate. The layout still helps you understand the building, but the current directory and signs determine the available choices.
Hyatt restaurants do not require a flight
The airport hotel page explicitly states that the Hyatt hotel and its restaurants are pre-security and accessible to travelers and non-travelers. It lists McCoy’s Bar and Grill, Hemisphere Restaurant and the Lobby Bar.
These are different dining formats. Establish whether the group wants a casual meal, a dinner reservation or simply drinks and a small plate. Then check the restaurant’s own current service arrangements. Public access does not promise an available table or an all-day menu.
Tell everyone to go to the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport inside A/B. Other hotels with “Orlando Airport” in their names are separate properties outside the terminal. Our Hyatt dining guide compares the hotel’s options and explains that naming problem.
Public food in Terminal C
MCO’s facilities listing places Barnie’s and Starbucks on Level 6 with baggage claim and the meet-and-greet area. They provide identifiable public meeting points without sending a non-traveler toward the gate-side restaurants.
A coffee meeting is a different plan from a full restaurant dinner. Confirm what food the counter has available before relying on it as the group’s main meal. If everyone wants a larger selection, settle the next destination and transport after meeting.
For visitors considering restaurants beyond the checkpoint, the airport has a separate visitor pass program. Applying for that program adds approval and screening steps. It is unnecessary for the public options covered here.
If someone still needs to fly
Agree on a leave-the-table time based on the airline’s boarding instructions and the remaining route. A pre-security meal leaves screening, any gate transport and walking still to do. It should not consume the time reserved for those tasks.
Order only when the group can comfortably complete the meal. If the kitchen cannot estimate service or the arriving friend is delayed, switch to a shorter meeting or food to take away. There is no single meal duration that works for every MCO departure.
For a public airport meeting, the most useful confirmation is: terminal, level, specific meeting point and who has already completed baggage or check-in tasks. Decide those details before choosing the menu.
