Eat Alligator
in Orlando
Tourists ask it every day: where can you actually eat alligator in Orlando? Right here. Gator has been on our menu since 2004, and we treat it with the same care as the grouper.
Allies Gator
Our gator is locally caught and wild — not farm raised — seasoned with Everglades spices and fried to perfection, with remoulade dip on the side. It comes two ways:
- Allies Gator — the starter, $16. The right size to try it for the first time.
- Alligator basket — $19, with fries, homemade coleslaw and garlic bread. You can also add gator to any other basket for $9.
What does alligator taste like?
Somewhere between chicken and firm white fish, with a clean, mild flavor that takes seasoning well — which is exactly why we give it the Everglades spice treatment and the fryer. First-timers usually expect something swampy and get something they order again on the next visit.
How much does gator tail cost in Orlando?
Around town, fried gator runs roughly $13–20 for an appetizer portion depending on the room. Here it is $16 for the Allies Gator starter and $19 for the full basket with fries, slaw and garlic bread — locally caught and wild, which is not a given everywhere.
Where else to find gator in Orlando
Honest map of the alternatives: Gator's Dockside is the sports-bar chain take — wings, screens and gator bites; The Black Hammock on Lake Jesup pairs gator with airboat rides, which is its own kind of Florida day out; and Gatorland serves gator at Pearl's Good Eats inside the park, if you want to meet the animal before dinner. If you want it as a proper plate in a local room with live music — that is us, on Daetwyler Drive.
Make it a Florida plate
Pair the gator with smoked fish dip to start, a Gulf grouper sandwich after, and homemade key lime pie to finish — that is about as Florida as a table gets. We are at 7937 Daetwyler Drive, about fifteen minutes from the airport, open every day from 11 am.
